The China Electric Power Research Institute has achieved significant progress in electric power measurement technology with its project "Key Technologies and Industrial Application of Power Measurement Equipment Based on Autonomous Operating Systems." This project recently received the second prize from the China Machinery Industry Federation for scientific and technological advancement.

China has deployed over 500 million smart meters and 20 million data collection terminals, forming a comprehensive industrial and supply chain. Previously, electric power measurement devices, such as embedded operating systems, faced challenges regarding autonomy, supply risks, and information security.

The research team, led by Zhu En’guo, focused on developing key software components for autonomy in embedded systems, power measurement equipment, and testing technology. Breakthroughs include real-time phase difference monitoring, rapid response control mechanisms, and intelligent parameter adjustment methods. They successfully developed high-performance domestic components and a fully proprietary operating system.

These innovations enable comprehensive power user monitoring and flexible control, with a complete detection technology system ensuring product quality and reliability. The new equipment now serves over 100 million users, with substantial economic benefits and advancements in the supply chain's resilience and innovation capability.
