According to IEA data, the ratio of cars to stations (public charging stations) in China, Europe and the United States in 2023 will be 8.7:1, 16.7:1 and 26.4:1 respectively.

According to IEA data, the ratio of cars to stations (public charging stations) in China, Europe and the United States in 2023 will be 8.7:1, 16.7:1 and 26.4:1 respectively. There is a large gap in charging resources in Europe and the United States, and construction efforts have been made since 2023. According to AFDC data, the cumulative increase of public stations in the United States in the first 11 months of 2023 and 2024 increased by 48.6% and 23.3% year-on-year respectively (the growth rate of DC fast charging in the same period was 51.4% and 30.8%); the cumulative increase of public stations in the first three quarters of 2023 and 2024 in the European Union increased by 24.0% and 12.2% year-on-year respectively (the growth rate of DC stations in the same period was 73.2% and 43.7%). It is expected that the high growth rate of charging station construction in Europe and the United States is expected to continue, and the proportion of high-power DC fast charging will increase, and the overseas market space is broad.

In the United States, a total of 37,000 new public stations were added in the first 11 months of 2024, +23.3% year-on-year.

According to AFDC, as of November 30, 2024, the number of public stations in the United States was 205,000 units, and the number of private stations in the United States was 20,000 units. From January to November 2024, a total of 37,000 public charging stations were added, a year-on-year increase of 23.3%, of which a total of 12,000 DC fast chargers were added, a year-on-year increase of 30.8%. In November 2024, 2,700 new public stations were added, -15.5% year-on-year and -47.3% month-on-month. Among them, 1,200 DC fast chargers were added, -6.9% year-on-year and +8.1% month-on-month.

The charging utilization rate in the United States continues to increase, and the charging utilization rate of DC fast charging stations has increased significantly.

According to Stable data, as of 2024Q2, the charging utilization rates of L2 and DC fast charging stations in the United States have increased compared with the second half of 2023. Among them, the charging utilization rate of L2 charging stations increased from 13.3% in July 2023 to 14.5% in June 2024, and the charging utilization rate of DC fast charging stations increased from 12.9% in July 2023 to 17.1% in June 2024. The charging utilization rate of DC fast charging stations in the United States is highly differentiated by region, with higher rates in the east and west and lower rates in the central region. Among them, the charging utilization rate in New Jersey and Nevada has reached 27%, and the charging utilization rate in California, Pennsylvania, and Florida has reached 25%.

In Europe, a total of 163,000 new public stations were added in the first three quarters of 2024, +12.2% year-on-year.

According to EAFO data, as of 2024Q3, the number of charging stations in the EU is 795,000, including 676,000 AC stations and 120,000 DC stations. In the first three quarters of 2024, a total of 163,000 new public stations were added in the EU, +12.2% year-on-year, of which a total of 38,000 DC stations were added, +43.7% year-on-year. In 2024Q3, 27,000 new charging stations were added in the EU, -41.9% year-on-year and -64.4% month-on-month. Among them, 9,900 DC stations were added, +14.2% year-on-year and -37.2% month-on-month.
