Lithium batteries - 100ah or 200ah?

If you can fit 1x200ah then go for it. (Say in a kitchen cabinet build)

But if you have smaller spaces . .. ie under seat, then you will need to drop to 2x100ah.

***

200ah is 200ah capacity wise, so that wont change.

***

To work out what you need:

add up all the Watts/Amps of the kit that you plan to use on a daily basis . . . then convert to Amps. (this gives you the Amps ie 5A,10A, 20A)

This Amps rate per hour would be 5Ah, 10Ah, 20Ah

Then work out roughly how many hours it will be used over your trip, then add a margin.

5Ah for 10hrs = 50ah, (plus 20% margin = 53Ah)
10Ah for 10hrs = 100ah, (plus 20% margin = 120Ah)
20Ah for 10hrs = 200ah, (plus 20% margin = 220Ah)

Now you have this value, you know what you can draw from the battery bank . . . . but also what you need to do to RECHARGE the battery bank.

ie

if you run this "10Ah for 10hrs = 100ah, (plus 20% margin = 120Ah)" for 5 hours you could depleate the battery bank by 50% or 50Ah . . . . which only leaves 50% or 5hours left.

so the recharge is just as imp[ortant.

Note these figures above relate to "Lifepo4 battery's" as you can use all the capacity of the battery.

doing this calculation for SLA batterys "ie AGM" then you need to calculate for ONLY 50% of the battery capacity . . . ie 50ah for a 100ah battery or 100ah for a 200ah battery bank.

Mobile Solar Panels ? . . . - How I Did It - There is loads of background to this . . . . . but for now here is a vid for you all. =] Just remember W = V*A and as a general rule a good 100W panel will give you up to 6A charge with good sun. 25w = 1.5A 50W = 3A 100w = 6A 200w = 12A 300w = 18A...
