plating stainless teel onto brass?

Most plating is a single metal, although parts are brass plated by using a solution that contains both copper and zinc. They use a copper and a zinc anode and balance the currents between them to maintain the ratio. I would expect stainless steel to be trickier, but it probably can be done. The question is why? The old standard of a chrome flash over nickel works fine. Nickel dulls and has to be repolished and has a yellow color that most people don't like. Consequently, most decorative chrome plating is a fairly heavy layer of bright nickel, which levels out minor imperfections with a few millionths of chrome to change the cast to blue and improve corrosion resistance. Of course, there are other plating methods besides the common electroplating. There are electroless methods that will plate on plastic and vacuum evaporation, which is often used to aluminize mirrors and platinum shadow cells for electron microscope examination.
